“Just a note to say how happy I am with the way you and Jali-Mex Construction are treating your staff as regards to holiday pay entitlement, sickness benefit and redundancy payments. I have regular conversations with your operatives and none of them have ever informed me they have issues with any of the above.
Avondale’s proactive approach to Industrial Relations and working with Unite’s on site convenor steward has had a positive impact on the project and I look forward to working with you and Avondale again in the future.”
“The Bloomberg London development was one of the largest privately funded construction projects seen in the City of London.
Critical to the success of this busy Central London project was Jali-Mex’s competent management of deliveries to the projects various Pit Lanes and Gates. All marshals were well presented, spoke good English, and as well as their traffic marshalling competences, were trained in dealing with the general public. On a number of occasions they were commended for interacting politely and with common sense and site safety in mind.
The project did extremely well at the City of London Considerate Contractors Awards including winning the following awards, in which Avondale were an integral part:
- One of only six Highly Commended Gold Awards in 2016
- Terry Hines Award (best site in terms of Road Danger Reduction)
- Chairman’s Cup (overall, the best of the best)
Avondale’s team were also renowned for their can-do attitude on this fast moving project and were always proactive in helping SRM overcome the logistical challenges on our project. “
“in my position as the Clients Project Director, I have had the pleasure of working with Allan for what must be almost two years now.
I have found him to be whiling, diligent and resourceful. I regularly found myself in a position where I needed to turn to Allan directly for assistance and he provided this without fail or question.”
“Jali-Mex were one of three specialist site logistic companies invited to tender for the design and construction of a site welfare facility to be built within the site.
The Jali-Mex tender was strong in terms of its scope and the level of thought that had gone into it. All of the requirements had been incorporated but the stand out feature was the idea of inviting design students from nearby Central St Martins College to participate in the design. The “win-win” opportunity in terms of, on one hand, providing local community students with a real opportunity to design something, see it built and be able to assess its performance and, on the other hand, to use their skills and imagination to provide the project workforce with a unique facility that demonstrated a level of care and respect from the client team, was a very special feature of Jali-Mex’s offer.
In practice the restaurant, changing offices, etc., facilities have been built within the allocated budget, on time, and have proved to very well liked and well used by the site workforce; in particular, the imaginative use of robust materials in the restaurant area. Without doubt this excellent facility has in turn contributed to the good performance of the site generally, benefiting the client greatly in terms of productivity and quality of work delivered by the workforce.”
“As we approach the final stages of construction, I want to personally thank you for your hard work on the new Bloomberg European headquarters.
Please extend my appreciation to each person on your team who worked at the building site. IO hope that, in the years to come, they will be proud to tell friends and family that they helped create a new London icon representing the workplace of the future.
Many thanks again for contributing your time and talent to this endeavour. I look forward to opening the doors to our employees and clients.”
“Brian Nicholls was Logistics Supervisor at BP4 development for Contractors Limited (CWCL) working for our logistics Trade Contractor Jali-Mex Construction Limited.
Brian was always willing to assist CWCL with overcoming any logistical issues and was an important part of the team which successfully completed the project in July 2014.
We would be happy to employ Avondale and Brian Nicholls again on future CWCL projects.”
“Jali-Mex’s full time, site based Logistics Supervisor, Brian Nicholls was integral to the success of the project working hand-in-hand with SRM’s management to ensure the smooth running of logistical materials on a particularly challenging site.
I found him to an invaluable member of the team who was proactive in helping SRM overcome the logistical challenges on our project.
Jali-Mex Head Office management team were also regular visitors of the project in support of Brian and their Director was a member of the Project Safety Leadership Team (SLT).”
